Yea, so I can't do this because of unknown reason my "Show sub tool details" button in Clip Studio Paint doesn't actually do anything.

Apparently I am the only one with this problem because I can't find anything on google.

There are two different wrenches near each other and it's really easy to confuse them. Make sure you are choosing the right one by hovering over the icon. Also, make sure none of your windows are hidden.

Sorry to hear you've been struggling with this. I'm going to try my best to get this tutorial out there a little better. I also need to update it because Clip Studio just released a huge update with some new brush options. :D I hope you've been able to make some nice brushes.

Hi karma12gaming, I found this via google search and found this very helpful!

I only tested out one import so far, but as far as I'm concerned, I can confirm that this does work with Photoshop CC 2015.5 on Windows 10 anniversary update.

I will update anything if I run into any issues, but to those who stumble upon this comment, assume that it works unless noted otherwise.

Thanks!

Is there a vice versa tutorial (e.g. MS to PS)? I'd like to use at least this brush in Photoshop. blofu.deviantart.com/art/Books…

I'm not sure how to extract the textures out of Manga Studio brushes other than using the brush itself. If you wanted you could stamp the brush once in black, save as a .png and then make a new brush in Photoshop. It's not ideal and you would have to toy with the settings in Photoshop but it's the only way I know of really to go the other direction. Mostly all the brushes i've wanted to use were in Photoshop format. Sorry, that I can not be more helpful.

For that particular brush it would probably just be better to draw in the books the hard way... -_-;

Thanks for the reply!

I'd like to try tweaking Photoshop settings before resorting to manually drawing each book. Could you note me a transparent png of a book (or each different one if there's a variety)? I don't have Manga Studio; otherwise, is do that myself.

Sorry it took me awhile to get back to you.

Now that I look at this book brush in Clip Studio I'm actually not sure how to make a Photoshop brush with multiple shapes attached to it. I have Photoshop CS5 and it's brush engine is a little outdated at this point, so i'm not really sure if it's possible in my version. However, I probably could make a brush for each book type, although it would be tricky to get it to scatter the size. I will try to figure out what I can do to help.

This so exciting! I have an army of amazing watercolour brushes and some pencil brushes in PS. But I prefer to use Clip Studio, this is just perfect.
Since Manga Studio is bascially the same as Clip Studio, I hope I can expect this to work. I have PS CS6 and Clip Studio EX

I've been converting more brushes and I'm pretty sure i've gotten some cs6 ones working.

After writing this tutorial, one thing I wish I had expanded on was the settings. After you make your brush, you really want to test it out and tweak the settings. It might not behave exactly like how it does in Photoshop immediately. The more you play with things the better you can customize things to your liking. I love painting in Clip now that I have a few more textured brushes. It gets easier the more you do it too. :D

Thanks for the tutorial! Also I'm on Windows 10 (64bit) and abrMate runs just fine for me.

Okay it looks like there is a program available for mac that does the same thing as abrviewer but it isn't free. www.brushpilotapp.com I have no idea how to use it but if it says it has the ability to extract the texture from the abr file. If that was the case you would do that and then just follow steps 4 - 15. Alternatively, I thought of another idea that could work for free. If you opened up a new document in Photoshop, picked the brush you wanted to convert, make it super big and black and then stamped it once at 100% opacity. It would be very close to the same result as if you used something to extract the texture. Then I would save it as a high res .png file and follow steps 4 -15 again. It could work? I wish I had a mac to test.

Sorry about that. I no longer have a macbook so I'm not really able to look for an alternative program. : (
